🔒 PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: March 2026
1. Overview
WARFRONT ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website warfront.live. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our platform.
We are committed to keeping things simple and transparent: we collect as little data as possible.
This policy applies to all visitors who access WARFRONT through any device or browser. By using our platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Automatically collected:
- IP Address — used temporarily for language detection and support popup cooldown. We do not permanently store your IP in our database. IP addresses are processed in-memory and discarded after serving the request.
- Visit count — an anonymous counter to track platform usage. No personal identifiers are attached. This helps us understand traffic patterns and improve the platform.
- Country code — derived from your IP to suggest a language. Cached locally in your browser using localStorage. We use this to show content in your preferred language and display region-appropriate support messages.
- Browser type & device info — basic technical information collected by our hosting providers (Netlify, Railway) in standard server logs. This data is used solely for debugging and performance optimization.
User-provided:
- AI Chat messages — when you use the AI Analyst, your messages are sent to our server to generate responses. We do not store chat history beyond the current session. Messages are processed by third-party AI providers (Groq, Fireworks) and are subject to their respective privacy policies.
- Language preference — when you select a display language, this choice is saved in your browser's localStorage so we can remember it across visits.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not require account creation or login
- We do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, or personal details
- We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or retargeting
- We do not sell, rent, or share data with third parties for marketing purposes
- We do not serve personalized ads or build user profiles
- We do not track your browsing activity outside of warfront.live
- We do not use fingerprinting or any form of cross-site tracking
4. Cookies & Local Storage
WARFRONT uses minimal browser storage:
- localStorage — stores your language preference, theme choice (light/dark), and cached country code. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
- sessionStorage — used to prevent repeated support popup displays within a single browsing session. Cleared when you close the tab.
- Google Translate cookie — when you use the translate feature, Google sets a
googtranscookie to maintain translation state. This is controlled by Google.
We do not use any first-party tracking cookies.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Translate — for multi-language support. When translation is active, your page content is sent to Google for processing. Google's Privacy Policy
- Google Analytics — for anonymous usage statistics (page views, session duration, geographic distribution). We use this to understand how the platform is used. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Buy Me a Coffee — if you choose to support us, their platform handles payment processing independently. We do not receive your payment details. BMC Privacy Policy
- Netlify — our frontend hosting provider. They may collect standard access logs. Netlify Privacy Policy
- Railway — our backend hosting provider. Standard server logs apply. Railway Privacy Policy
- Groq / Fireworks / Mistral AI — AI providers that process chat queries and generate content. Chat messages are sent to these services for processing but are not stored permanently by WARFRONT.
6. Data Storage & Security
All data is stored on MongoDB Atlas (cloud database) and served through Railway (backend) and Netlify (frontend). These services maintain their own security and compliance standards.
Browser localStorage is used to save your language preference and theme choice. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
All connections to warfront.live are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. We do not store sensitive personal data, so the risk of a data breach affecting individual users is minimal.
Our database stores only: news articles (from public RSS feeds), AI-generated content (reports, blogs, profiles), and anonymous aggregate metrics (visit counts).
7. Data Retention
We retain different types of data for different periods:
- News articles — retained indefinitely as a public archive of conflict events
- AI-generated content — reports, blogs, and profiles are retained indefinitely
- IP-based cooldown data — automatically expires after 36 hours
- Chat messages — not stored; exist only during the active session
- Server logs — managed by Railway and Netlify per their retention policies
8. Your Rights
Since we collect minimal personal data, most traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) are not applicable — we simply don't have personal data to act on.
However, you can:
- Clear your browser's localStorage/cookies to remove all WARFRONT-stored preferences
- Use browser extensions to block Google Analytics and Google Translate
- Use a VPN or Tor browser to prevent IP-based language detection
- Contact us if you have specific privacy concerns
9. Children's Privacy
WARFRONT is a news and intelligence platform covering active military conflicts. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The content may contain war-related material including casualty reports, military operations, and geopolitical analysis that is intended for a general adult audience.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through our platform, please contact us. However, since we do not collect personal information from any users, this scenario is extremely unlikely.
10. International Users
WARFRONT is operated from India and hosted on global cloud infrastructure. By accessing our platform, you acknowledge that any minimal data processing occurs on servers located in various regions (US, EU, Asia) depending on our hosting providers.
We aim to comply with applicable data protection regulations including GDPR (EU) and IT Act (India) to the extent they apply to our minimal data collection.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without prominent notice.
Continued use of WARFRONT after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
